About me

Home About me

Welcome to Gender Gazette! I’m thrilled to have you join me on this journey of analyzing and critiquing media and the news from a Gender Studies perspective. My name is Rebecca Nagel (she/they), and I’m passionate about unraveling the complexities of gender and its portrayal in the media.

As a college student, my academic journey has been focused on understanding the intricate interplay between Communication, Sociology, and Women & Gender Studies. It is through this multidisciplinary lens that I delve into the news stories that shape our understanding of gender.

With a specific concentration on gender in media, I aim to dissect the narratives, representations, and biases that permeate our screens and newsfeeds. Through thought-provoking analysis, I explore how gender influences and is influenced by the media landscape.

My dedication to this subject stems from a deep-seated belief in the power of knowledge and critical thinking. I firmly believe that by examining the media through a Gender Studies lens, we can uncover underlying biases, challenge societal norms, and contribute to a more inclusive and equitable world.

At Gender Gazette, you can expect a range of content that delves into various aspects of gender in media and the news. From dissecting the portrayal of gender roles in popular culture to analyzing news stories through an intersectional feminist perspective, this blog aims to provoke discussions and promote awareness.

I invite you to engage with the content, share your thoughts, and be part of the conversation. Together, we can challenge existing paradigms, challenge stereotypes, and foster a more inclusive understanding of gender in society.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Feel free to reach out to me at @GenderGazette on Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter, and Facebook with any questions, feedback, or ideas. Let’s embark on this exploration of gender and news together!

Warm regards,

Rebecca Nagel (she/they)
